Jessica Ennis will feature on the cover of the Beano
Published: 21st Aug 2012 16:56:19
Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis is to feature on the cover of children's comic the Beano.
DC Thomson has confirmed the 26-year-old heptathlete will appear as "Ennis the Menace" in a special Olympic edition.
The Dundee publishers have said the comic, which goes on sale on Wednesday, will mark the success of Team GB at London 2012.
Ennis will be seen taking part in the "Menace Heptathlon".
It is the latest honour for the heptathlete, last week 18,000 people gathered in Sheffield city centre to welcome her home, where she was told she was to be handed the freedom of the city.
A spokesperson for the Beano said: "Just when she thought her golden summer couldn't get any better, Olympic heptathlon star, Jessica Ennis is immortalised on a very special cover of The Beano.
"The famous comic lets her have the honour of taking the place of cover-star Dennis as Jess becomes "Ennis the Menace" for the week, taking part in the 'Menace Heptathlon'."
