Supermodel Kate Moss has been condemned for seeming to endorse a slogan which encourages anorexics to avoid eating.

The 35-year-old told fashion website WWD that one of her mottos is: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels."

The phrase is regularly used by anorexia and bulimia sufferers on websites endorsing the eating disorders.

In the interview Moss added: "That’s one of them. You try and remember, but it never works."

Her remarks have been labelled "dangerous" and "very unhelpful" by eating disorder charity Beat while Dr Carol Cooper told Sky News Online the model’s comments were "absolutely appalling".

Katie Green, a former Ultimo lingerie model who earlier this year launched the Say No to Size Zero campaign, labelled Moss’ comments "irresponsible".

"I think Kate Moss should really have thought before she spoke like most of us do before giving interviews. Kate is a mother herself and how would parents with children suffering from eating disorders feel reading something like this?" she told the BBC.

"We are trying to get the government to put something in place to stamp out size zero models and comments like this aren’t doing anything to help that."
